Jerusalem, 7 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health Ministry will begin integrating mental health centers into general hospitals nationwide, aiming to boost access, reduce stigma, and lower rates of involuntary hospitalization. The move follows recommendations from the Knesset’s Yarkoni Committee. The nationwide integration is set to be completed by June 2026.
“When the process is completed, psychiatric hospitalization will be among the most advanced and innovative in the world,” said committee chair Inbal Yarkoni, who also heads the ministry’s mental health sector.
