Jerusalem, 7 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — For the first time in history, the robotics team of the Youth Sponsorship Authority of Israel’s Ministry of Social Affairs has been selected to represent the State of Israel in the prestigious international FIRST Global competition, which will be held this November in Panama.

“This is an extraordinary achievement for girls and boys who have not had an easy life, and now they, with talent, perseverance and self-belief, are on the verge of great success,” said the Ministry.

FIRST Global is an international event, where 190 teams from all over the world come together with one goal – to build a groundbreaking robot and solve an annual technological challenge. It is a stage that “encourages leadership, innovation and teamwork, and where the future generation of the world’s engineers are formed.”

The field of robotics under the auspices of youth has become an educational and therapeutic cornerstone in recent years, connecting youth to advanced technology, the world of high-tech, innovative thinking, and leading international companies, explained the Ministry.

The activity takes place in settings throughout the country – from Mesila, Mitzpe Yam and Beit Hanar, to Gilam, Achva, Beit Ruth, El Bustan and Nof Harim. The tremendous success of the teams has already led to the fact that the youth sponsorship currently accounts for 15% of all youth teams in the country.
