Jerusalem, 12 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Transportation and Trans-Israel are promoting the construction of Highway 855 in the Galilee, a new highway which, they say, will create a direct, fast and safe connection between the settlements of the Western Galilee and Highway 6, Israel’s only toll road that runs through the center of the country from north to south. This is expected to shorten travel times in the area.

Arab communities of the western galilee such as Kfar Yasif, Yarka, Julis, Abu Sanan and Jadida-Makhar are expected to greatly benefit from shortened travel times.

Highway 70 is 44 km in length and runs through the Western Galilee.

The project is expected to bring about a significant change in accessibility and traffic flow between Highway 4 and Highway 70 said the Ministry.

As part of the project, a new two-lane and three-lane road, 7 km long, will be constructed, which will connect Highway 70 to Highway 4 and create convenient and efficient connectivity between the localities in the area and Highway 6. In addition, a designated public transportation lane will be paved in both directions and a new bicycle path will be established.
