Jerusalem, 24 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel filed a request with the Haifa District Court to permanently confiscate the vessel Madleen, which was detained by the Navy in June while attempting to breach the naval blockade on Gaza. The yacht is best known for carrying Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg.

The request, filed by the Haifa District Attorney’s Office, argues that under international law, states may seize ships attempting to violate a legal blockade. Israel is seeking to transfer ownership of the vessel to the state treasury, pending court approval.
