Jerusalem, 20 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Defense Forces confirmed troops fired warning shots near Gaza City today but disputed Hamas claims that 67 Palestinians were killed while awaiting humanitarian aid on Sunday.
The army said thousands had gathered in northern Gaza, posing an “immediate threat” to forces. While acknowledging reports of casualties, the IDF said initial reviews suggest the death toll “does not align with existing information” and the incident remains under investigation.
The military emphasized it does not target aid deliveries and coordinates closely with international groups to facilitate humanitarian access. It accused Hamas of exploiting such situations to provoke clashes and obstruct the flow of aid to civilians.
