Jerusalem, 7 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Health Ministry told Knesset lawmakers it is uncertain about the future of health funds’ long-term care insurance, worrying elderly citizens who have paid into the system for decades.

“We have been looking for a solution that will address the risks of this insurance,” Health Ministry Director General Moshe Bar Siman Tov said. “It is better to move to a model of proactive savings by citizens or make changes to the National Insurance Law.”

He added: “If we do not hear about a satisfactory solution, by the end of 2026, the health funds will be forced to part ways with the long-term care insurance.”
