Israel Establishing National Research Institute for Food Innovation in Kiryat Shmona
Jerusalem, 5 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Economy and Industry is publishing the tender to locate a business partner for the establishment of a national research institute for food innovation in Kiryat Shmona, in collaboration with the Tel Hai University and the Miguel Institute.
The government investment – amounting to approximately 21.2 million Shekels ($6.46 million) over five years – is expected to be a significant lever for the development of the Israeli food industry and the strengthening of the North.
The new institute will join a series of strategic moves by the Ministry of Economy and Industry in the region – including the Foodtech Incubator established by the Innovation Authority and the establishment of a dedicated industrial zone for the field in Kiryat Shmona – and will serve as a central anchor in building an economic and technological ecosystem in the Galilee.
