Gil Tanenbaum Breaking News

Jerusalem, 23 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s “Law on Labeling the Country of Origin on Fresh Agricultural Produce That Is Not Prepackaged” will come into effect in December 2023, as part of an amendment to the Consumer Protection Law, under which retailers are required to prominently label the country of origin of fresh agricultural produce, close to the price. The labeling requirement applies to fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, fresh meat (poultry, beef), and fish, and is also required on online sales platforms (as of February 2024). The labeling requirement also applies to agricultural produce packaged at points of sale. Enforcement of the law is the responsibility of the Consumer Protection and Fair Trade Authority inspectors.
