Israel confirms Hamas anti-tank fire and retaliatory airstrikes in response to terrorist actions in southern Gaza. Military infrastructure targeted.
Jerusalem, 19 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Hamas fired an anti-tank missile and gunfire toward Israeli soldiers in the Rafah area of southern Gaza, sparking retaliatory airstrikes, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Sunday.
The IDF said the troops were dismantling terrorist infrastructure “in accordance with the ceasefire agreement.”
In response, the IDF has begun striking in the area to eliminate the threat and dismantle tunnel shafts and military structures used for terrorist activity.
“These terrorist actions constitute a blatant violation of the ceasefire agreement, and the IDF will respond firmly,” the army said.
The army’statement did not address whether Hamas was attempting to abduct soldiers.
