India’s Economy Minister in Israel to boost agricultural cooperation and trade agreements, paving the way for new export markets and strengthening food
Jerusalem, 1 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Ahead of a free trade agreement with India, Israel’s agriculture and Food Security Minister Avi Dichter met with India’s Economy Minister, Piyush Goyal, to promote agricultural cooperation and mutual trade benefits between the countries.
The ministers agreed to quickly advance the negotiation process for the trade agreement, which is expected to open new export markets for Israeli agriculture, reduce costs, and strengthen food security.
The progress in talks with India also stems from geopolitical developments in the region and the acceleration of the IMEC initiative, the continental economic corridor between India, the Middle East, and Israel.
In addition, the meeting raised key issues in the field of food security and deepening agricultural cooperation between the countries. Among other things, the ministers discussed a joint research budget, the continuation of the post-doctoral program for researchers from India at the Volcani Institute, and the expansion of activity within the framework of the centers of agricultural excellence operating throughout India.
