In Response to Another Record Heatwave: Millions Allocated to Help People Without Means at Such Times

Jerusalem, 13 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In the midst of another extreme heat wave hitting Israel – temperatures in Jerusalem are set to hit 105 degrees (40 Celsius) on Wednesday – Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has allocated NIS 4 million ($1.17 million) for projects that will help populations that lack the means to cope with extreme heat and cold waves. Heat stress in the weather can lead vulnerable groups to extreme situations of heatstroke, hypothermia, and even death, due to the lack of access to basic heating or cooling.

The call will identify residents who suffer from a lack of cooling or heating means and offer them practical solutions, including: renovating buildings to increase the thermal insulation of the home, installing cost-effective acclimatization measures, switching to energy-efficient electrical appliances, education for smart consumption, installing solar systems, and activities to strengthen community resilience.
