In a joint operation in Gaza City on Saturday, the IDF and Shin Bet eliminated As’ad Abu Sharaiya, the head of the Mujahideen terrorist organization in Gaza. Abu Sharaiya infiltrated Kibbutz Nir Oz on October 7, 2023, participated in the massacre, and was directly involved in the abduction and murder of Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir Bibas, as well as the kidnapping and killing of Thai national Nattapong Pinta and American-Israeli couple Gad and Judi Lynn Weinstein Haggai.
As the group’s leader, Abu Sharaiya was responsible for recruiting terrorists in Judea and Samaria and advancing attacks throughout Israel. During the war, his group orchestrated assaults on IDF forces in Gaza.
In a separate strike, the IDF and Shin Bet also eliminated Mahmoud Kuhail, another Mujahideen operative who infiltrated Nir Oz and held the Bibas family captive.
The Hostage Families Forum shared a message from the Bibas family: “While Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir cannot be brought back, we find some comfort knowing these despicable murderers will not harm another family. We are grateful to the soldiers and security forces risking their lives to protect us all.”
