Jerusalem, 12 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Germany’s Max Planck Society have launched a new International Research Center for Democracy, Security and Human Rights.
Jointly led by Prof. Barak Medina and Prof. Ralf Poscher, the center aims to study the balance between Security and democratic principles, fostering global collaboration on human rights challenges in Israel and beyond.
The Max Planck Center in Jerusalem is the only one of its kind in Israel and will join 19 centers worldwide hosted by top universities.
Operating within the Hebrew University’s Minerva Center for Human Rights, the center will run a five-year, €5 million ($5.7 million) program supporting doctoral and postdoctoral research.
