Jerusalem, 1 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Four hundred Israeli children and teenagers who are growing up outside the home for social reasons and live in boarding schools, are expected to go on vacation during the summer holidays in the homes of hundreds of accompanying families who “adopted” them as part of the Ministry of Welfare and Social Security’s “Family Companion” program.

“Family Companion” is a dedicated program of the Ministry of Social Affairs and the Children at Chance Association, in which participants are given a connection with a permanent family that “adopts” them and hosts them in their home during vacations, holidays, and special events.

The accompanying families open their homes and hearts to the youth from the boarding schools and provide them with a positive model of connection, inclusion, and continuity.

The program provides children and teenagers staying in welfare boarding schools with an ongoing and meaningful connection with families from the community, as a horizon of belonging, love, and a sense of home.
