Jerusalem, 9 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar recently held a briefing for Israeli ambassadors around the world on the implementation of Phase One of the Trump Gaza plan following the agreement and ahead of the decision that will be submitted tonight for government approval.

“We are committed to achieving all the war goals,” Sa’ar said. “All the war goals were anchored in the Trump plan outline in its various stages. Along the way, we have said again and again that we prefer to achieve this through diplomatic means – and that is what is happening in the plan. We are accepting the hostages and remaining in the Gaza Strip according to the agreed redeployment lines. With the intention of continuing to implement the Trump plan in the following stages to realize the full goals of the war.”

“This agreement could not have been reached earlier,” he added. “Hamas was not willing to release the hostages without us completely withdrawing IDF (Israel Defense Forces) forces from Gaza and in effect giving up the other goals of the war. We would have remained outside the Strip without dismantling Hamas, without demilitarizing the Strip and with the continued possibility of strengthening.”
