Jerusalem, 16 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — For the first time, foreign workers arrived in Israel to work in the country’s infrastructure sector. On Wednesday, 110 out of a total of 190 Sri Lankan workers in the first group to come landed at the airport.

The workers landed within the framework of the bilateral agreement between Israel and Sri Lanka, within the framework of which the Population and Immigration Authority worked in cooperation with the Sri Lankan Ministry of Labor, to recruit approximately 1,000 workers for the infrastructure sector in Israel, in the first phase.

As part of the process, the workers underwent screening processes designed to verify their ability to do strenuous physical work and that they had the professional qualifications.
