Jerusalem, 5 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Jerusalem, the capital of Israel, is in the midst of what the Ministry of Transportation called a “comprehensive and unprecedented” as well as “historic” public transportation move. The 2026 budget approved by the government, allocates resources to develop the city’s transportation infrastructure and to better connect all neighborhoods of Jerusalem to the central region and throughout the country.

This involves a series of huge projects, including Israel Railways and light rail lines, extending existing lines, interchanges, bicycle paths, transportation terminals, and a significant upgrade of accessibility and service. These moves will shorten travel times, reduce congestion, and provide residents of the capital and visitors with a real alternative to the private car.

According to the ministry’s vision, by 2030, Jerusalem will be the first city in Israel where it is possible to get around easily and comfortably without the need for a private car. The light rail network in Jerusalem continues to expand at a rapid pace. The network is based on the “15-minute city” concept, which connects neighborhoods, employment centers, educational institutions and entertainment venues, through an efficient, accessible and green transportation infrastructure.

Jerusalem, 5 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) announced that the leader of its Central Command, Major General Avi Bluth, signed an order allowing the use of technological means, such as personal monitoring devices, to monitor compliance with the conditions of restriction of movement orders in Judea and Samaria.

The order came following the directive of the government, and after joint staff work by the IDF, Shin Bet (Israel’s anti-terror General Security Service), Israel Police, the Ministry of Justice and the Legal Advisor for Judea and Samaria.

The order, explained the IDF, will allow for the installation of technological surveillance measures for those against whom an administrative order restricting their movement in the Judea and Samaria region has been issued, and for monitoring violations of the restriction orders accordingly.

“It should be emphasized that violating the instructions of the order or damaging the technological monitoring device intended for the purpose of monitoring constitutes an offense, for which criminal proceedings may be taken,” said the IDF.

Jerusalem, 5 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) reported that a cadet at its Officers’ Training School was seriously injured earlier today (Monday) as a result of a training accident at a base in northern Israel.

The soldier was taken to the hospital for medical treatment and his family has been notified.

No details about the accident were provided.

Jerusalem, 5 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The (Israel Defense Forces) said the third meeting of the Joint Military Committee (JMC) between Israel and Morocco was held in Tel Aviv, led by the IDF Planning Directorate and the Tevel Brigade, and concluded this week with the signing of the Joint Work Plan for 2026

During the week, professional working meetings were held, alongside visits to IDF units, defense industries, military units, and relevant departments. At the center of the visit was a dedicated strategic panel that dealt with force building in strategic aspects and common goals for cooperation between the militaries.

“The meeting constitutes another milestone in deepening security cooperation between Israel and Morocco, a key partner for regional stability and security, and marks five years since the renewal of relations within the framework of the Abraham Accords,” said the IDF.

The Abraham Accords were first signed between Israel and the two Arab nations the UAE and Bahrain in 2020. Morocco and Sudan joined the Accords later on.

No details on the strikes were provided by the IDF.

Earlier it announced its intention to launch the attack and warned residents of Kfar Hatta, located near Sidon and Ain El Tineh locate near Beirut, to evacuate for their own safety.

Jerusalem, 5 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The IDF (Israel Defense Forces) revealed Monday afternoon that it intends to attack in what it called the the “near term” military infrastructure belonging to the hezbollah terrorist organization in Lebanon saying that it will do so, “in order to address the prohibited attempts it is making to rebuild its activities in the two areas,” and issued a stern warning to residents of these areas to evacuate for their own safety.

The two areas the IDF said it plans to assault are Kfar Hatta, located near Sidon and Ain El Tineh locate near Beirut.

The IDF’s Arabic spokesperson Colonel Avichay Adraee posted the following warning on social media to Lebanese civilians in the areas:

“URGENT URGENT WARNING TO RESIDENTS OF LEBANON AND SPECIFICALLY IN THE FOLLOWING TWO VILLAGES: Kfar Hatta [and] Ain El Tineh.”

“We urge the residents of the buildings marked in red in the attached maps (which were included in the posts) and the buildings adjacent to them: You are located near buildings used by Hezbollah and for your safety you are required to evacuate them immediately and stay away from them by a distance of at least 300 meters,” he added. “Remaining in the area of the marked buildings puts you in danger.”
