Five Arrested on Suspicion of Extorting Construction Companies in Eilat
Five arrested in Eilat for extorting construction companies, Israel Police crackdown on protection money scheme.
Jerusalem, 10 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police arrested five people, residents of the Bedouin dispersion, Lod, and Shoham (near Ben-Gurion Airport), on suspicion of extorting protection money from construction contractors in Eilat.
The arrests came, said the police, after, in recent months, an undercover investigation was conducted by officers of the South Protection Unit of the Israel Police’s Lahav (Blade) 433 investigation unit (Israel’s version of the FBI). The investigators followed the suspects as they allegedly collected protection money under the guise of being security services.
