Jerusalem, 25 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Despite the war with Iran, immigration to Israel did not stop. A group of approximately 110 new immigrants on a flight from Paris landed today (Wednesday) at Ben Gurion Airport, in a worldwide operation by the Ministry of Immigration and Absorption and the Jewish Agency, in cooperation with the Friendship Foundation, to build their home and future in Israel.
Most of the immigrants on the El Al flight that took off from Paris came from all over France, and a number of others came from countries such as Britain, Spain and the Netherlands. Among the immigrants are families with small children, immigrants and young immigrants who immigrated alone, and some of them are even planning to enlist in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces).
According to data from the Ministry of Aliyah and Absorption and the Jewish Agency, since October 7 2023, over 45,000 immigrants from dozens of countries around the world have immigrated to Israel. About a third of the immigrants are young people up to the age of 35, who are absorbed in designated programs and contribute to strengthening Israeli society and the economy.
“Since October 7, we have seen that even in the most difficult times, the Jewish people choose to immigrate to Israel,” said the Minister of Absorption, Ofir Sofer. “In other countries, when there is war, people flee the country, but here, people come to the country.”
“This is the story of the heroism of the Jewish people, who choose to return home precisely in the most difficult times,” said Chairman of the Jewish Agency, Maj. Gen. (Res.) Doron Almog. “Every immigrant who comes to the country is a beacon of hope.”
