Cyber Directorate Foils Attempt to Collect Personal Information of Soldiers
Israeli Cyber Directorate thwarts fake website collecting soldiers' personal info. Suspected Iranian group behind phishing attempt.
Jerusalem, 28 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Cyber Directorate said that it foiled an attempt by a fake website that claimed to aid soldiers suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder from collecting personal information from users of the site.
The website, carefully constructed to appear trustworthy, was designed to mislead, collect personal information, and even attempt to infect the devices of those who browse it, said the Directorate, which estimates that an Iranian group is likely behind the attempt, based on an analysis of tactics, techniques, and patterns of action typical of known Iranian activity in the digital arena.
