Application of an Accelerated Procedure for Asylum Seekers from Kenya

On December 7, 2025, the Acting Director General of the Population and Immigration Authority decided to apply the accelerated procedure, as defined in the “Procedure for Handling Political Asylum Seekers”, to the review of asylum applications submitted by male citizens of Kenya, subject to exceptions.
This decision is in accordance with an expert opinion received from the ministry of Foreign Affairs, which indicated that, as a general rule, Kenya can be considered a “safe country of origin” for the purpose of examining asylum applications under an accelerated procedure.

It should be clarified that this decision will take effect starting from December 16, 2025.
