After Four-Year Hiatus, Poland Returns Ambassador to Israel

Jerusalem, 21 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — After a four-year diplomatic gap, President Isaac Herzog on Monday received the credentials of Poland’s new ambassador to Israel, Maciej Honieś on Monday. Herzog welcomed Honieś, calling Poland “a great friend of Israel” and expressing hope for strengthened cooperation.

Poland recalled its ambassador to Israel in 2021 during a diplomatic spat over the Holocaust and property restitution.

In a separate ceremony, Herzog also received the credentials of Malta’s new ambassador, Claude Bonello. Marking 60 years of bilateral ties, Herzog noted the potential for expanded cooperation between the two Mediterranean nations.
