Jerusalem, 15 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In the 2023/24 academic year, 90,900 people who completed their studies at higher education institutions in Israel received degrees. This was an increase of 3.7% compared to the previous academic year, reported Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics.
However, while there was an increase in the number of recipients of bachelor’s and doctoral degrees, there was a decrease in the number of recipients of academic certificates and master’s degrees.
The increase in the number of degree recipients in STEM fields was much higher than the increase in the number of degree recipients in other fields of study overall (14.7% compared to 3.7%).
For every one man who earned a degree, there were almost two women who earned a degree.
There was an increase in the number of female degree recipients, but it was less than the increase among male degree recipients.
One in six degree recipients were Arab. There was an increase in the number of Arab degree recipients, but it was lower than the increase among Jews and others.
One in 20 degree recipients was Haredi . The increase in the number of Haredi degree recipients was higher than the increase among other degree recipients, but their relative share is still very low, especially the share of Haredi men.
One in every one hundred degree recipients was from Ethiopia. The number of degree recipients who are from Ethiopia has decreased slightly, as has their relative share.
