Jerusalem, 11 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Around 30% of Israeli adults face food insecurity, including 12.6% in severe distress, with Arab families disproportionately affected, MK Naama Lazimi warned during a meeting of the Knesset Youth Committee on Monday.

The committee, which she chairs, reviewed government efforts to improve food security and stabilize commodity markets.

“Food security is a fundamental condition for the existence of the national home” Lazimi insisted.

The Ministry of Agriculture presented its National Food Security Plan, aiming to cut per capita food loss by 20% by 2035 and 50% by 2050. Officials urged subsidies for healthy food, reduced consumption of harmful products, and policies linking sustainability with affordability.
