225 North American Immigrants Arrive in Israel on First Post-Oct. 7 Charter Flight
Jerusalem, 20 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — A charter flight brought 225 new immigrants from North America to Israel’s Ben-Gurion Airport on Tuesday morning, marking the first such flight since Hamas’ October 7, 2023 attack.
The flight was organized by Nefesh B’Nefesh, a nonprofit that helps Jews move to Israel, in partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Immigration and Integration, the Jewish Agency, and other organizations. Passengers included families, retirees, and professionals, including doctors and healthcare workers.
For the first time, Israeli identification cards and immigration certificates were issued mid-flight.
According to Nefesh B’Nefesh, this August will see more than 1,000 new immigrants arriving in Israel, the highest monthly total in over 20 years.
