Jerusalem, 26 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — During Operation Rising Lion, Israel’s Ministry of Social Affairs evacuated 1,402 senior citizens and 522 children and adults with disabilities from their homes, deployed hundreds of social workers to provide assistance and support to evacuees, worked to improve protection for housing frameworks for people with disabilities, and allocated budgets to local authorities for basic initial equipment for evacuees.
Most of the evacuated senior citizens were housed in hotels, about a hundred of whom were evacuated to nursing homes for service and care. Dozens of the citizens evacuated to nursing homes were extreme cases of destitute senior citizens who were left without support and care systems.
