Jerusalem, 13 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — About 1,000 outstanding female students from across Israel are joining the flagship “Future Scientists” program to advance girls in science and technology. The 1,000 were introduced at what was described as a “festive event” where Israel’s Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology Gila Gamliel launched the ninth cycle of the “Future Scientists” program.
This program, said the Ministry, is one of the “key programs that the ministry has been operating since 2012 to advance girls in the field of science and technology.”
The program is intended for outstanding girls in grades 8-11, from all sectors, and from all over the country – from Eilat in the south to Safed in the north – with an emphasis on the social and geographical periphery/impoverished regions.
The program, operated by the Branko Weiss Association, includes approximately 109 active groups in three grades (7th, 8th, and 9th), with over 2,400 students enrolled this year. The new grade includes approximately 40 groups and approximately 1,000 new students who were carefully selected through a designated call for applications published by the Ministry.
The curriculum spans 4 years and takes place within the framework of informal education led by the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. It includes scientific enrichment, personal empowerment, preparation for psychometric tests, and exposure to the worlds of academia and industry, with guidance from leading female scientists and researchers who are role models for girls.
