Jerusalem, 11 December, 2025 (TPS-IL) — As part of the Government’s activities to strengthen the South and the Negev, this coming Sunday, it government will approve, at a special meeting in the city of Dimona, a national plan to encourage demographic growth and sustainable economic development in the communities of the eastern Negev – Arad, Dimona, Yeruham and Mitzpe Ramon.
The activity includes responses in the areas of: infrastructure, personal Security, Environment, transportation, innovation and energy.
This news is added to significant umbrella agreements that the government is promoting in Dimona and Yeruham, and as part of national decisions made for the Negev region and its strengthening.
As part of this decision, over 100 million Shekels ($31 million) will be allocated in 2026.
Investment highlights:
* Construction and development – construction and expansion of public buildings and economic growth engines in local authorities.
* Security and Defense – extensive strengthening of local enforcement and policing systems and increasing the sense of personal security.
* Educational excellence – significant investment in formal and informal education, youth movements and boarding schools.
* Environmental responsibility – promotion of environmental projects, reduction of waste landfilling and urban afforestation.
* Connectivity and mobility – promotion of the planning of the airstrip in Mitzpe Ramon.
* Innovation and energy – establishment of the “National Hydrogen and Innovation Valley” as a leading national hub for the development of advanced energy technologies and strengthening drone R&D in Yeruham.
The goal of the program is to encourage demographic growth and strengthen the communities in the Eastern Negev through a comprehensive response tailored to the needs that have arisen from the field. This is with the aim of strengthening local resilience, attracting new populations, and creating quality growth engines in the Eastern Negev.
