IDF Chief of Staff stresses continued high tempo operations while prioritizing reservist welfare and operational readiness in discussions with commanders.

The Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, held a discussion yesterday (Sunday) with reserve brigade commanders, with the participation of the Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Tamir Yadai, the Commander of the Ground Forces, Maj. Gen. Nadav Lotan, the Head of the Manpower Directorate, Maj. Gen. Dadi Bar-Klipa, and other commanders.

“I know how much responsibility rests on your shoulders,” began the Chief of Staff, Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir, “The war showed us all how much the reserve brigades, and within them the reserve battalion and brigade commanders, are a significant part of the operational core of the IDF. We have the responsibility to care for the reservists, address burnout, strengthen professional foundations, and return to training alongside the continuation of increased operational activity.”

“Thanks to you, we achieved operational successes in all theaters of war,” he continued, “You command people without whom we would not have been able to achieve the successes we achieved in this war. We appreciate the reservists and are acting unprecedentedly to enable and provide them with the rights they deserve, and even more so.”

“We are attentive to your needs and the voices rising from the field and are working to provide you with the necessary flexibility,” he clarified, “The grants will be maintained and adapted to the number of reserve duty days. We will continue to work to improve and expand the tools for caring for your personnel. We must continue to work together to strengthen the fitness, readiness, and trust of reserve soldiers in the IDF.”

“I expect you to influence and bring the voices from the field so that we can make changes and adjustments for efficiency and improvement,” he continued, “However, clear lines must be drawn. We must return the IDF to full operational readiness. We will allow you flexibility, but you, as commanders, must ensure the standards, values, and norms of your units.”

“At the core of the ‘Hosen’ multi-year plan, we are engaged in empowering the combat ground forces, including the establishment of force structures, increasing offensive capabilities, operational mobility, robotic capabilities, and the readiness of reserve brigade depots. We are in a multi-arena conflict, and 2026 will continue to be a year in which we operate at a high offensive operational tempo, to further weaken threats and defeat our enemies on the contact lines.”

“I have ordered the disbandment of all improvised forces that were established during the war,” he stated, “I salute and appreciate everyone who volunteered and assisted at the beginning and throughout, but we must operate systematically and professionally. Units and forces with an operational need will be organized and integrated in an orderly manner. I appreciate you and your work – keep it up.”
