On the 6th day of fighting, the Ministry of Labor publishes an estimate of the damage to the labor market due to the special situation declared in the home front.
- According to the Ministry of Labor’s assessment, those absent from the labor market due to unemployment, unpaid leave, or reserve duty constitute about 11% of the workforce, which is about 490,000 absentees.
- The main sectors affected are: Arts, Entertainment and Recreation, Management and Support Services, Other Services, Education, and Commerce.
Robi Shemesh, Director General of the Ministry of Labor: “The Ministry of Labor constantly monitors the state of the labor market and analyzes trends daily. All these matters are brought to situation assessments, accordingly relevant decisions are made and the Minister of Labor signs special orders to maintain economic continuity. We see that despite the security challenges, the labor market in Israel is stable. The Ministry of Labor will continue to provide solutions to the economy according to the needs that arise from employers and employees.”
