Ministry of Construction and Housing awarded emergency preparedness standard to strengthen ministry readiness and operational continuity in emergencies

Today’s ceremony recognizes the processes undertaken by the Ministry of Construction and Housing to prepare the ministry for ensuring functional continuity and continued provision of essential services to the public, both in routine and in emergencies. This follows extensive professional work led by the Ministry’s Emergency and Security Department. As part of the process, the Ministry of Construction and Housing was selected by the National Emergency Management Authority to serve as a pilot among the first ministries to implement the model.

Director General of the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Yehuda Morgenstern:
“Strengthening the Ministry’s readiness for emergencies is an integral part of our national responsibility. The standard reflects thorough professional work and cooperation among all Ministry units, with the aim of ensuring functional continuity and providing a response to the public even in complex and challenging times.”

Director General of the Standards Institution of Israel, Dr. Gilad Golomb:
“Granting the standard to the Ministry of Construction and Housing, as the first government ministry to implement the emergency preparedness model, is a significant achievement and the result of close professional cooperation with the National Emergency Management Authority. This is an important step in strengthening national preparedness and the functional continuity of public service in routine and emergency, especially in these days. The Standards Institution of Israel is proud to accompany the Ministry and the NEMA.”

Director of the Emergency and Security Department at the Ministry of Construction and Housing, Yitzhak Izzy Lerer:
“The implementation of the preparedness model and meeting the standard constitute a significant milestone in strengthening the Ministry’s readiness. The work included developing procedures, practicing emergency scenarios, and implementing a functional continuity concept that allows for continued operation even during a crisis.”
