Israel Confirms Ground Operations Targeted Hezbollah Positions in Southern Lebanon

Jerusalem, 25 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israeli Forces carrying out a series of raids in recent months destroyed Hezbollah military infrastructure, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Wednesday. According to the IDF, the operations targeted observation and firing positions used to store anti-tank missile launchers.

While Israel has carried out numerous airstrikes against Hezbollah activities in violation of the November 2024 ceasefire, it rarely acknowledges the operations of ground forces in Southern Lebanon.

“The presence of weapons and terrorist infrastructure in the area constitutes a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon,” the IDF said.

The ceasefire allows the IDF to maintain outposts on five strategic hilltop positions inside southern Lebanon, a few hundred meters north of the border.

The IDF reported killing around 380 Hezbollah operatives and striking roughly 950 to 1,000 targets in 2025. These included launchers, weapons depots, military structures, and underground shafts. The IDF also accused Hezbollah of violating the ceasefire about 1,920 times during the year.

The ceasefire requires Hezbollah to withdraw its armed forces from southern Lebanon and prohibits it from operating south of the Litani River.
