Jerusalem, 4 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Standardization Administration at the Ministry of Economy and Industry reported that, in accordance with the national preparations for an emergency situation as part of Operation “Roaring Lion” against Iran, and in cooperation between the National Emergency Authority (NEA) and the relevant government ministries, the definitions of the vital economy – were updated with the aim of enabling the continuation of vital activity for the economy even in times of crisis.

As part of this update, it was determined that scientific laboratories approved under the Standards Law, will be considered an essential economy and will be allowed to continue their activities even in this time of emergency.

The Standards Administration said it welcomes the decision, which sees standards and laboratory tests as an integral part of the State of Israel’s essential defense system. Approved laboratories are responsible for testing products intended for the local and international market, including medical equipment, electrical products, infrastructure, hazardous materials, food products, and more – and therefore constitute a central link in maintaining quality, safety, and public health even in times of emergency.
